I first became fascinated with integrative medicine over 20 years ago when I was diagnosed with hypoglycemia. Conventional doctors told me I would just have to learn to live with the symptoms, but I didn't accept that. Using the research skills I developed as a professional writer, I began an investigation that led me to understand how food can nourish and heal the body.
I kept returning to the integrative model of care when my family experienced a series of health challenges that included severe allergies, heart attacks and cancer. In each case, I kept discovering the healing properties of nutrient-dense foods, stress reduction and exercise. I kept asking herself, why aren’t these things more well known?
So I made it my mission to help people create a healthy, healing lifestyles. I believe a whole-foods diet can free our bodies from the ailments that can limit our lives.
In 2010, I became Certified Holistic Nutritionist with specialized certifications in nutrition for cancer and cardiovascular health. A perpetual student, I enjoy taking continuing ed courses through The University of Arizona’s Center for Integrative Medicine, The Kresser Institute, and The Institute for Functional Medicine.
I am also an 200-Hour Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher. I teach nutrition and yoga classes and workshops at Darling Yoga, Turning Point at Kansas University Health Center and Advent Health.
In my free time, I love to read and practice crazy yoga poses. Laughter is a cornerstone of my life, and I enjoy nothing more than spending time with family and friends.
